Twin Vision Blinds — Day and Night Light Control in One Blind
Twin vision blinds (also known as zebra blinds or dual roller blinds) consist of alternating horizontal bands of sheer and opaque fabric on a single roller. By adjusting the blind up or down, you align the sheer bands with the opaque bands — or offset them to let in diffused light. This gives you a continuously variable range of light and privacy settings without swapping between two separate blinds.
In the fully open position, the sheer bands align and the blind acts like a light-filter, letting in diffused daylight while maintaining an element of privacy. In the closed position, the opaque bands align to block view and reduce light. The effect is contemporary and sophisticated — twin vision blinds have become increasingly popular in NZ living rooms, bedrooms, and offices where versatility and a modern look are priorities.

Frequently asked questions
How do twin vision blinds work?
A twin vision blind has two layers of fabric on a single roller — both layers have alternating horizontal bands of sheer and opaque material. When you raise or lower the blind, the two layers shift relative to each other. Aligning the sheer bands lets diffused light through; aligning the opaque bands blocks light and view. Between those two positions you have an infinite range of light settings.
Do twin vision blinds provide blackout?
No — twin vision blinds are not a blackout solution. When the opaque bands are fully aligned you get significant privacy and light reduction, but light still enters through the sheer bands at the edges and the overall effect is a dimmed room rather than full darkness. For bedrooms requiring complete blackout, a dedicated blockout roller blind is the better choice.
How do I measure for a twin vision blind?
Measure the same way as a standard roller blind. For an inside-recess fit, measure the exact internal width and drop of the recess. For an outside (face-fix) fit, add at least 50 mm to each side of the window opening and 100 mm above to minimise light gaps around the edges. Our measuring guide walks through both methods step by step.
What colours are available for twin vision blinds?
Our twin vision blinds are available in a range of neutral and contemporary tones — whites, greys, creams, and some deeper shades — in both fabric and metallic weave options. The stripe pattern is a fixed feature of the blind style, so colour choice is the main customisation. Browse our twin vision collection to see the full swatch range.
Are twin vision blinds easy to operate and maintain?
Yes — they operate like a standard roller blind using a chain mechanism, with a simple up-down motion to adjust the band alignment. Cleaning is straightforward: dust with a soft cloth or microfibre duster. Avoid wet cleaning unless the fabric is specifically rated for it, as the two-layer construction can be difficult to dry thoroughly.
